Senior Week | Senior Year Timeline

There are so many big things that occur during the senior year of high school! Some of them tend to sneak up quickly so here is a timeline of what to expect this coming year!

12 Months Before Graduation

  • Schedule your senior photos, begin to plan what to wear

  • Get your class ring

  • Start envisioning what your graduation celebration will look like (notify out of town guests to give them a heads up so that they can book travel)

9-11 Months Before Graduation

  • Get your senior photos taken

  • Pay attention to class announcements about senior meetings and graduation planning

  • Create your initial invitation list for your graduation party

  • Order your graduation announcements, cap, gown, thank you cards and other graduation accessories

6-9 Months Before Graduation

  • Place your senior portrait enlargement order

  • Consider a theme for your graduation party

  • If you havent already ordered your graduation products, this is the time for late orders

  • Submit your senior photo to the yearbook

4-6 Months Before Graduation

  • Schedule time with your guidance counselor or academic advisor to ensure your on track to graduate. Talk to them about scholarship options

  • Begin preparing a list of the food you will have at your grad party

  • Book a company to provide rental equipment for your grad party (tables, chairs, etc.)

  • Get ready for prom

2-4 Months Before Graduation

  • Begin collecting photos and mementos that you want at your party

  • Select a bakery to pre-order your graduation cake or cupcakes

  • Enjoy prom

  • Place any last minute photo orders with your photographer

4-6 Weeks Before Graduation

  • Mail party invitations and grad announcements three weeks before your party

  • Prepare your graduation outfit

  • Order food and beverages for the grad party and make sure you have everything ready

  • Buy a sign in book or poster for guests to write memories

2 Weeks Before Graduation

  • Pick up your cap and gown

  • Buy paper plates, napkins, silverware, glasses etc. 

  • Post on your social media to remind your friends when your graduation party is

  • Take a much-needed break

Grad Week

  • Confirm delivery of rental equipment (tables, chairs, tent)

  • Try on your cap and gown. Remove any wrinkles

Grad Ceremony Day

  • Have your camera charged, assign someone to take photos and video. Make sure to get plenty of photos of your friends too

  • Make sure your family knows where to meet you after the ceremony

Grad Party Day

  • Set up gift table, food tables, decor etc. 

  • Finish preparing food

  • Pick up balloons and set out yard signs to let your guests know where the party is

After Your Celebration

  • Send thank you cards within two weeks

  • Collect photos and save in an album

  • Receive and save your official diploma
